Junk Mail Filtering

Home Services The Packet Exchange Contact Us Policies

Using the WebMail client, you can set your own filters to assist in routing mail to an appropriate location.  All filters are activated when mail is received, and require you to simply define the filter and activate it.  It requires nothing on your Email client (like Outlook/Outlook Express/etc).

Junk Mail filtering is enabled by default on most mailboxes, and requires no setup on your part.  If you find that good mail is ending up in the Junk Mail folder all the time, you can contact us, or set a filter to re-route it into your Inbox.  Remember, all Junk Mail is cleared after 2 weeks!

If you want to create a filter, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into WebMail with your browser (http://mail.yourdomain.com) or http://mail.compudocinc.com
  2. Click "Options" at the top of the page (click the graphic for larger image)
  3. Click "Filtering" at the top of the page
  4. If filtering is disabled, click the "Enable Filtering" button to turn on filtering.  If filtering is disabled, none of your personal filters will operate!  (Junk Mail filtering will still be functional regardless of your personal filtering status)

To re-route good mail back into the Inbox

  1. Click "Add" to add a new filter
  2. Define the criteria, use * to catch wildcard text
  3. Define the Action as "Move to folder" and type "Inbox" as the folder name

  4. Click the Apply button at the bottom.

To delete Junk Mail that you never want to check!

Some email is totally junk, but we don't block it because you might want it!  Junk mail is tagged with certain subject line text (for example: [spf], [surbl], [sls] and more).  If you are tired of wading through the obvious junk, here's a filter that will delete the most common junk mail settings.
